Deception Island is one of the ports of call where amazingly there is a layer of volcanically heated water just below the surface warm enough to swim in, even though the temperature outside is below freezing. Another is Port Lockroy where you can meet and chat to some of the scientists stationed there. The Weddell Sea contains masses of huge floating icebergs that often harbor penguins scrambling up their steep, icy slopes or diving off into the water as your boat passes by.
