Galapagos Islands
Everything about the trip was great and truly an adventure - the islands, geography, wildlife, getting so close to wildlife - I can't say enough about the trip and how great Diego, our guide, made it. And the weather was perfect - hot and mostly sunny.
Operator Performance
CNH Tours was amazing - Heather was exceptional in all ways. She provided timely responses and excellent information to assist us in making our choices.
I found her on Trip Advisor - I like how she answered people's questions. Also, she's Canadian.
I have already recommended her to others.Getting there
Our flight was good, although TAME changed our times at some point after we left Canada. But it wasn't a problem. Heather looked after everything.
We first stayed at Hampton Inn, Guayaquil Downtown - the people there were helpful and friendly, and provided excellent service. The room was comfortable - it was perfect for us.
Once we arrived on the islands Diego found us and looked after us, explained what would happen i.e. baggage and our transfer, and everything went as planned.Boat and Guide
Angelito - boat was comfortable, 'homey', clean and welcoming. Cabins are small, but that is to be expected. It was perfect for us.
The crew was amazing - friendly and looked after our every need. Food was excellent and always plenty. Facilities were great for a cruise like this.
There was power on the boat, but not internet.
Diego was our guide - he was patient, and so knowledgeable. We loved him. I don't know which level he was, but would like to know.Weather and Sea Conditions
Used gravol twice to avoid seasickness while travelling to islands. Seas were relatively calm.Activities & Wildlife
The snorkeling (every day, sometimes twice a day) was spectacular. We took our own masks and snorkels and used their fins. The boat's equipment was enough and it looked in good condition.
Diego knew exactly where to snorkel to get the best sighting. I got some amazing underwater pics with my new underwater digital camera!
We saw birds, boobies, iguanas, land tortoises, crabs, an owl - everything you can imagine.Typical Day
Breakfast at 7, wet or dry landing by 7:45, touring an island, back for snack, snorkeling, lunch, more touring, sometimes a second snorkel.
Although some days varied, depending on where we were and where we were going. Diego always told us the night before what the next day would hold, and then posted the itinerary on the board in the main area.Tips and Advice
Take good sandals.
Expect to rough it a bit, be flexible, and enjoy a trip that many only dream about.
And read up about the islands before you go. We did (Moon's book, Heather's info and the internet) and it was valuable. There is a lot of information, if your guide is good, and it helps to have a little background before you go.
