Sunset Kenya Tours and Safaris

by Fatema Lookmanjee
(United Kingdom)

My family and I went on safari with Sunset Kenya Tours and Safaris. We went to the best nature reserve, the Masai Mara, Kenya-Tanzania border, during the annual animal migration. We could not see the grass for wildebeest and zebra. And as a result of this ample food supply lion prides and cheetahs lined up to be photographed.

We stayed in little lodges and motels along the way. They were comfortable, welcoming and fit in with the environment. But be sure to check when the hot water is turned on and the electricity is turned off!

The food was self-service, buffet type things. Normal food, but some African delicacies. Plenty of fresh fruit and hot soup and bread.

The travelling was long, but worth it in the end. The only way to travel is by car, you get two safaris for the price of one. Also, this tour is for the journey as well as the destination, you will appreciate, enjoy and value what you see so much more after seeing the things you will see on the way.

The migration was fantastic and we were lucky to find exactly want we wanted to see anywhere we went.

We went on an early morning hot-air balloon ride and saw the beauty of the earth and the sunrise and then we enjoyed a specially cooked breakfast in the middle of the park. This was a lovely surprise that my mum planned for us and it's one of things very few have experienced, but will never be forgotten by those who have.

In Tanzania we visited the white rhino reserves in the Ngorongoro region. We went down into this crater, which used to be a mountain bigger than Kilimanjaro, before it collapsed.

We also visited the salt lakes of Tanzania, which were filled with all kinds of birds. The lakes are perfect for bird watchers.
